“Oh, and you better make me look thinner”, these are the infamous words of the non-photographer of what photographers really do. Like any other profession, there are some misconceptions about what they do. After Grey’s Anatomy everyone probably thinks that working 20-hour shifts is a breeze, and I guess that’s why photographers can’t throw shade at those who think that we are Photoshop surgeons.
Shade or no shade, there has to come a time when people hiring photographers know what it is that we really do…for their own benefit.
So for those not-so-clued-up-people, I’ve compiled the top 5 misconceptions about photographers/photography.
“All you do is just snap photos…”
Brrrrrrrr… No not-so-clued-up-people, photography is actually an acquired skill, one that cost money and time.
We are Photoshop surgeons…
I cannot stress this enough. I’m hoping that this is just some kind of joke people say to photographers. Seriously though. Some people seem to be quite serious when they say it.
Our job is easy…
Belittling anyone’s job title is rather mean and insensitive.
Expecting to like your photographer just as much as you adore your best friend…
Yes I our job takes place outside an office but it stills require professionalism.
That we are contactable at ALL hours…
As crazy as it sounds, some not-so-clued-up-people seem to ignore the fact that everyone has a life – never mind sleep.
As an ending, here at DesignerK Photography, we encourage you to always consult your professional photographer.
You Welcome ;)
